I'm separating the player and the person...as a 'keeper, he was pretty fuckin' spectacular at many times. Granted his start to this season was shit.

Mmk, fair point.

He was great on the pitch for most matches, spectacular in some...but made a complete ass of himself with the Al situation.

Couple of things...

1. Keane at WHL was never a penalty in the first place. Poor refereeing... And to be honest I don't care, we still won the league at WHL. Which was made possible in the first place by his fantastic league performances that season, in part.

2. He did very little wrong regarding the whole Almunia thing.

3. At the start of the season he made two mistakes... one was awful, the other was down to an injury he was carrying [and subsequently ruled him out for 2 months or so afterwards] I won't hold it against him .

He was a fantastic goalkeeper, one of the best during his peak and had some great moments both as a goalkeeper and as a character, for us.

Good luck to him at Stuttgart and in the Euros.

If he was injured that badly, he shouldn't have played in the first place. He grossly mishandled the Almunia switch.

There's a joke just begging to be made here....

I was one of Jens's harshest critics this term, but I was just a little bit sad to see him go. He could be many things: a brilliant athletic shot stopper, a flaming asshole, a team player, a team disrupter, a ref baiter, protective of his teammates, but most of all a madman. He was OUR madman though and I miss him already, even though I know it was time for him to go. Please remember, he did push Drogba down.

As to the Euros, I will be delighted if he turns in a stellar performance, but he is already talking about the weird balls and how it's hard for keepers to handle them. He supposedly let in 2 soft goals in the recent friendly, but I am guessing he is just getting the crazy stuff out of his system.
