When the competiton was first starting, I picked Germany to win it (and I wasn't alone). Now Spain do look like the best team in the tournament. The only thing they have against themselves is that they have not won it before, and that does seem to matter. Spain will need to keep Ballack quiet and Cesc should start.

Sorry to be pedantic but they won it before in 64.

Spain were great, Cesc and Iniesta especially. Russia totally outclased, what a great tournament should be an interesting final!

Ballack looks to be out tomorrow; Frings is only a possibility. If Ballack isn't playing, I think that gives Spain an edge, even though they haven't won this competition since 1964. :s_whiteflag :s_wink

Germany can pull out a win though. with or without their captain. I want to see Cesc's face lifting the cup. For me he will have been the star of the Euros - even off the bench. That's speaking objectively, of course.

Interestingly , I was reading an article in the Standard about Turkish fans who just partied after the loss to Germany. Couldn`t help but think what might have happened if it had been England who had just lost to them in the semifinals.............

Ya think? I'm way too superstitious to make any statement like that. I hope it's a good game. Both teams will be up for it and both will think they have to win. It's been a great tournament.

One-nil Spain. Decent goal by Torres.
