Been made pretty clear that both the domestic cups are going to be, once again, fringe players and young 'uns.

I reckon it should look like

Fabianski
Hoyte Senderos Djourou Traore
Ramsey Song Denilson Vela
Walcott Bendtner

Or a team to that effect. Always enjoy CC games when the boys click, gotten knocked out in the S/F four times under Arsene if I remember right [Scum, Chelsea, Boro, Wigan] and against Villa under Rioch I think as well as losing to Chelsea in the final. Now I know the League Cup is a bit of a nothing, but because of the way we play in it and how well we have done I'd like to see us win it under Arsene.

That's a good team I think. Ramsey out of position but that's nothing new.

Looks about right, I actually do love watching the youngsters in action and think they'll go far this season :s_thumbsup

So, F, do you think Song will be a midfielder this year then?? Or just in Cup games.

I'd think he would be on defense as much as possible, to be honest. Get Senderos out of there, have Song as the other CB, Ramsey at CDM instead of Song, and Gibbs maybe on the right?

Yeah, I wondered about Senderos in there. Maybe the idea is to give him games, because we all know how he is when he doesn't have games. :s_whiteflag

We might see Nasri in there depending on how well he adapts to the Prem and also depending on Rosicky's (rememeber him ??? :s_wink ) fitness ...

Also Harvard Nordveit (sp??) and Gavin Hoyte may be pushed into the fray here if they are not going out on loan ...

btw is Fran Merida on loan again this season or back with us? If he is not expect him and Barazite to play some part too this term ...

I'd really like to see Barazite get some time with the first team (CC team)...see if he can cut it at a higher level like he can do it in the reserves and youth.

It is difficult to tell. I think he will be a defender but Phil/Johan will be the CBs in the Carling Cup, simply because Song can play DM and would add more balance to the midfield which is otherwise quite attacking. A lot comes down to injuries in the first team, so say Rosicky is injured [and we don't buy anyone else] then it is unlikely both Theo and Vela will feature.

I think the general squad will be; Fabiasnki, Mannone, Traore, Gibbs, Nordtveit, Song, Djourou, Senderos, Gavin and Justin Hoyte, Vela, Ramsey, Denilson, Walcott, Randall, Merida, Barazite, Wilshere, Bendtner and Eduardo. Maybe Simpson but I expect him to be sold or loaned.

So that is 20 players plus maybe the odd player who's been out for a while. Then out of those 20 a few might be stuck on loan [Gibbs, Barazite] or if someone does really well in the reserves they might get promoted but that should be the basic squad.
