I missed first half, but saw the second.. We played decent football, a bit sloppy in letting the two goals in.. We shouldnt be conceding to teams at this level.. Let alone twice...

Wiltshere looks like he can be a really good prospect.. He has performed well every time I seen him play.. people have called him 'The English Messi' but thats way too much pressure on a kid who has barely even scratched the surface of his playing career

why do Arsenal fans get so excited at the smallest things. from whta i've seen he looks a good prospect. nothing more nothing less. to think he will be anything less is simply stupid. at this moment in time.

Agreed but there's no denying the potential and if he builds on that he can be very good ... he may or may not turn out to be first team material at Arsenal but he certainly has the talent to do it ... no one can say he will "NOT" be a phenom just as no one can say he "WILL" be a phenom ... I agree with AOS that he should be tested this season in CC and that will decide his future the season after this one ...

now that is BOLLOCKS. suppose we get knocked in the fisrt round that we play in? he's a kid nothing more

Good enough you're old enough.

He has a fantastic brain that is very rare and WILL make his first team debut this season... you can quote me on that, and whatsmore he will do well.

No, I mean league debut. Off the bench probably, but at 16 that is quite rare.

I don't see your point. It is a big deal, we have a very special talent on our hands who hasn't looked out of his depth with the first team.

Fer me, has earned a place in the CC squad, at least as a sub. He has been fabulous in the reserves (from reports) and has looked good in pre-season. If we get knocked out of CC in an early round, then that is just so many fewer games we have to distract us from the EPL and the CL.

And, I agree, we should have not conceeded any goals in this match. What I do like is that we weren't afraid to lay it on and score 10 goals.

Granted the goals only went in when Mannone was in.

Just saying...

Christ, what a load of hysteria. I'm with radders on this. Is this really the depths we're plumbing now, wetting our pants about a 16 year old who's never played for the first team because he scored in a pre-season friendly against a team no one's ever heard of? We really are in trouble.

Based on more than that... there has been a lot of talk about him for a while, these pre-season games have just confirmed it. And why shouldn't we get excited by a very talented English kid coming through the academy? Five years ago or so everyone got excited about Cesc, and with reason... similar thing happening here.

Big difference. Cesc was tested against proper opposition, not Burger King FC.

I can tell quality, doesn't matter who its against in a team of some very good players he stood out. Of course he has proved nothing and has a long way to go, no one has said any different, but he is a very exciting prospect and we will see him in the first team, that's been more or less confirmed.

Ben, what the hell is the harm in putting Wilshire in the CC squad...where the whole point is to test out youngsters against better teams than "Burger King FC?"
