Manc or not Silvestre is a quality signing and one I am really pleased about. Bags of expereince and cheap, we would have been idiots not to sign him.

many arsenal fans out there had been crying out for a defender all season long and now wenger had made his move to add depth and experience to the squad by signing a guy that is versatile and have bags of experience in PL. Yet still some are unhappy, fans are hard to please.. come on think about it is there a better option than silvestre with the money wenger had paid ? for that money we might not even get any decent back up else where, but now we are getting someone that have actually proven himself before in PL. what is the problem, just because he is from manu? manu rejects ? i wouldn't mind getting manu rejects like stam, VNR or silvestre.

DON'T FORGET fergie is not as good as wenger when it comes to selling a player..

i didnt say that, i said he is a good siging, but i will never trust him after being a manc, i was the same with Campbell all the time he was with us. hes a good player and great to expand our squad but there will always be a little thing for me that wont like him coz he was a manc. i dont mind if i dont like him and he dose well for Arsenal the team comes first. just hope he can stay fit.

for fuck sake im getting seriously fucked off with wenger now.

so he either signs players that are still in nappies, or o.a.p's?! what the fuck? how about a few players in there peak that dont come with asbo's or pensions.. where is the happy medium?

why has he given him a 2 yr contract? i thought it was only 1 yr for players over 30?

all this does is make me think what a hypocrite.. he got rid of one of the best midfielders we ever had in pires, because of his poxy policy.

yet again we can look forward to another season of fuck all.
we will be lucky to finish in 4th with the squad we have got.

Calm down calm down :s_tongue

The over 30s rule only applied to current players I believe not players 'signed'. 31 is hardly OAP and the prem and CL experience he will bring will be so valuable. Who says Wenger is finished signing players yet? Seriously at 750k it was too good to refuse and a shrewd piece of business. Don't be so defeatest eh? We will win something this season, a cup at least.

Keep the faith my friend :s_smile

I never said anything about a bad signing ... just that he is a Manure REJECT ... and please dont try to paint this in a better light ... Gallas and Sol Campbell were not rejects ..

BUT .. I have to say this might turn out to be a good signing ..

1. Experienced ... check
2. Defender ... check
3. Versatile ... check
4. Prem Experince ... check

So deffo I am glad in that sense ... I know some of us are never pleased :s_whiteflag

Wow ,... just read that he was offered a 2 year deal of about 45K a week ... seriously ... this is (if true) ridiculous ... we lost Pires because AW wouldnt offer him another year since he was above 30 ..

I think this money would have been better spent by giving a raise and keeping Flamini ...

I will seriously faint if he starts alongside Gallas on saturday ... above Toure ... what is happening here?? :s_shout

dennis bergkamp never moaned about receiving one year contracts, at the age of 33 onwards. if it was good enough for him then pires could certainly accepted it.

if pires really wanted to stay all he had to do was accept a one year deal and prove himself worthy of a new deal each year. he obviously didn't fancy it.

looking forward to see silvestre in action soon as possible :)
