Alright, this is the Gunners next match!

CC vs. Sheffield United...we had them later in the CC last season and Eduardo had a pair of amazing goals. Deni chipped in one of his own, as well.

So, what do we all think as far as lineups go? Which youngsters will get some first-team time? Discuss! :D

That time again eh? .... well I guess Wilshere, Ramsey, Merida all to feature ... my lineup would be:

-----------Fabianski------------

--???---G.Hoyte---Djourou--Gibbs--

--Wilshere--Randall--Merida--Ramsey--

-- Bendtner --- Vela---

Subs: Mannone, Jay Simpson, Rui Fonte, Lansbury, Coquelin, Song, Silvestre (7 subs allowed???)

I have no idea about the defensive side of our team ... Traore is on loan,Nordviet is on loan, Hoyte is gone, Senderos is on loan ... :s_scratchhead maybe Silvestre can play in the defence for some experience ...

but really looking forward to our next line of youngsters destroy the opposition ...

I like these games radders... yeah it means fuck all but its always fun to see the Arsenal and see some future stars...

Anyways, team should look like

Fabianski
Djourou Hoyte Song Gibbs
Lansbury Thomas Randall Wilshere
Vela Bendtner

Is what I reckon we can expect. Will be tough though that is a very young side!

Oh yeah forgot about Ramsey... replace him for Thomas. Won't see Denilson because he plays league games for us, wouldn't make sense.

AW usually puts a couple first-teamers in there to settle the youngsters...Deni was in it regularly last year, and I'm thinking he could just get the start to add a little experience to the squad...of course I can always be wrong. :D

Im going to this one.. Only my second at the grove so far this season :D

Im looking forward to Vela playing, and Bendtner should play well after his goal on saturday.

I have a feeling Theo will be on the bench.

Vela really deserves a good run out for 90 minute to see what he can do...the Blades aren't a pushover squad, either, so it'll be at the very least a good test for him.

who implied you weren't a real fan? and you can get tickets for the bigger matches...big deal. i state again its a pointless fixture against the blades AGAIN. if we win that will be cool but no great shakes and if we lose there will be mass suicides on the officials. :s_howdy

Wenger to name Arsenal's youngest ever side

Arsène Wenger may name the youngest first-team side in Arsenal’s history for the Carling Cup tie against Sheffield United on Tuesday.

It is now normal for the Frenchman to send out youngsters in this competition however, against the Blades, Alex Song (21), Nicklas Bendtner (20), Johan Djourou (21) and Lukasz Fabianski (23) are likely to be the ‘old heads’.

Wenger intends the field to include a raft of 17, 18 and 19-year-olds. Rising star Jack Wilshere, age 16 years 266 days, is likely to start his first competitive game for the Club. But he may not be the youngest Arsenal player on show. Speaking to Arsenal TV Online on Monday, Wenger suggested he may include first-year scholar Emmanuel Frimpong. He is a full nine days younger than Wilshere.

“There is a possibility [it will be the youngest side ever],” said Wenger. “In the first team there are many players around 20. In the Carling Cup we will keep a few in there but the side will be more between 16 and 19. At Arsenal you can say 20 and 21-year-olds are the experienced players.

“You are likely to see Gavin Hoyte, Abu Ogogu, Aaron Ramsey, Mark Randall, Jack Wilshere, Fran Merida and Carlos Vela. Maybe Bendtner will play. Song, Djourou and Lukasz Fabianski will be the experienced players. But you will have players like Emmanuel Frimpong and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas so it will be a very young side.”
